They are all in their twenties and share a house and a car, work, everyday life and parties!

Klas-Andre Elisenberg resigned from a secure job in the south to live in Gjesvær. So have Filip from Asker, Sindre from Sandefjord and Betina from Brumunddal.

Upheaval!
Klas-Andre Elisenberg was born and raised in Ådalsbruk, a small settlement with just under 750 inhabitants in Løten municipality in Innlandet county. On a daily basis, he worked as a plumber and did hobby fishing on Lake Mjøsa.

But when his friend Filip Wasan Nielsen needed help with a fishing boat and fishing camp, Elisenberg jumped to the offer! He quit his secure job, packed his backpack and moved to Gjesvær to become a full-time fisherman and tourist guide for Northcape Nature.
- I live here to pursue my hobby full time, and this was also a chance to experience something completely different, says Elisenberg.

Young commune living
But Elisenberg is not alone in tearing up life and moving from south to north. The founder himself, Filip from Asker, Sindre Andersen from Sandefjord and Betina Kristiansen from Brumunddal are all new inhabitants of the small fishing village, conveniently located at the far end of the northwestern tip of Magerøya.

They are all in their twenties and share a house and a car, work, everyday life and parties.
- We live in a house in the fishing village and share everything. Fortunately, one of us is good at cooking and the rest of us are good at doing the dishes, chuckles Elisenberg, and adds:
- We have just bought a shared car, by the way. So far this year, the road here has been closed for the winter for 2-3 weeks, but the car is nice to have to drive here in the fishing village on stormy days as well.
They have also acquired snowmobiles. Which was the first priority.

Nature is abundant
Northcape Nature is an experience company where anglers and families come to experience village life and nature. The whole team works at the camp, albeit a lot as buddy help and volunteer work so far.
- It was tough to start camp now during the corona, so it is good to get a lot of help, says the young entrepreneur Filip Wasan Nielsen.
It was the summer two years ago that Filip bought the facility from Nordkapp Havpark. He also has his own fishing boat and now they are in the process of fishing the quota for cod and soon also king crab.

Sindre from Sandefjord works at the fish farm and receives the fish, while Betina from Brumunddal has the opportunity to work on the North Cape plateau, on various fishing boats and help with the guests at Northcape Nature.

Best destination for holiday - and now also for work?
In 2012, Gjesvær was named Norway's best destination by Innovation Norway. Nevertheless, the fishing village is still a fairly unknown gem for most people. The inhabitants of the fishing village, who counted only 95 resident souls before the southerners moved in, often say that this is the best thing that has happened in a long time. It gives both a new lease of life in everyday life and new life in the fishing village. There is very good fishing on the North Cape and many a Lofoten fisherman has moved north to fish what is later sold as "Lofoten cod". For there is no doubt that nature has a lot to offer - both of work and experiences.
Radio Bingo!
- We are excited to see what the year brings now. Now it's the cod fishing in the fishing boat that counts, soon the king crab catch, and eventually we hope that the tourists and anglers flock to us, says Elisenberg, and adds:

- Fortunately, there is midnight sun in the summer and many bright hours to work.

The friends from Innlandet follow everyday life in Finnmark on social media. There are already many records of scooter riding, cod fishing, northern lights, storms, yoik and radio bingo on Mondays.
It is a big leap in both everyday life and culture, and sometimes the longing for home also emerges.
- And if I want a regular job and everyday life again, I can always move "home," chuckles Elisenberg.

Because it may not be possible to turn a "Southener" into a "Northerner" overnight - even if he changes both address and fishing from inland to sea:
- And I hope that I also get a vacation home to meet family and friends - and to fish a little on Lake Mjøsa.
